About UPI

The Unified Payments Interface is an instant payment system by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). UPI allows transfer funds from one bank account to another, instantly and free of charge. Ever since its inception, UPI has made financial transactions much easier for account holders. The mobile number of the device is required to be registered with the bank. The UPI ID of the recipient can be used to transfer money. The UPI ID is a unique identification for a bank account that is used to send and receive funds from one bank to another.

How to use BHIM UPI?

BHIM UPI is very easy to use. All you need is a smartphone and an active internet connection.

  • Go to Google Play Store/App Store and download the BHIM UPI App.
  • After downloading the app, Sign in as per instructed.
  • An SMS will be sent to validate your mobile number.
  • Select the bank account and verify your Debit Card details.
  • Select your UPI ID and set the Personal Identification Number (PIN) to start transacting with UPI.

Once the account has been set up, BHIM UPI can be used to transfer money by using the recipient’s mobile number and entering the UPI PIN. The money will be transferred instantly.

Ways to transfer money through BHIM UPI

You can transfer money using the mobile application through the following ways:

Mobile number: It allows transfer of money by using mobile number which is linked to your bank account.

QR code: Enables you to transfer money using the QR code enclosed with your VPA, Account number, IFSC, or mobile number.

VPA (Virtual Payment Address): Allows you to send or request money from a bank account using the UPI ID.
